Have you ever wondered where the phase Live well, Laugh often and  Love much originated?

Well in 1904 Bessie Anderson Stanley entered a poem entitled "Success" into a contest.  I bet Bessie would  be proud to know how much we embrace this phrase still today.  (Be sure to check out pictures of my version below...)

SUCCESS
He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much;
Who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children;
Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
Who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty or failed to express it;
Who has left the world better than he found it,
Whether an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul;
Who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had;
Whose life was an inspiration;
Whose memory a benediction.

 

Here is my version of that timeless expression.  This was a special order for our cousin Rita.  As requested I added the little lady bug.  Rita has a special story about that.

 

 

A happy journey to a very special home...

You know, when I create one of these little guys, it's almost like one of my babies.  But this one was extra special since he was created for a very dear friend of mine.  I knew this little guy was going to a wonderful home. 

And what a happy little journey...

First he proudly stood to have his picture taken before he left my house.  "Scottie" knew it was going to be a special day with that great big velvet bow and all.

He sat very quietly in his little bag as we drove to The Queen Street Deli to have lunch with his new owner. 
When we got there his new mommy (Constance) just showered him with hugs and kisses saying how handsome he looked.  After a wonderful lunch he headed to his new home in that cute little VW bug...just the right size and vehicle for a Scottie Dog, don't you think?

He got to look around his new home...

And finally, he was carefully placed on the White Couch!

"Certainly I must  be special if I'm allowed to sit on a white couch!" 

 

 

And then it happened...

Scottie met his new kennel mate Ruby. 

 

 

 Life just doesn't get any better then this!!

So which end is the Short End Of The Stick? 

Literally speaking... I have no clue. (Do You?)
But figuratively speaking I would have to say THANKSGIVING.

Halloween is now a very popular time of year.  Parties, Specialty Foods...Decorating.  Homes now are all decked out for Halloween almost as much as Christmas.

It's November 14 and when driving around I'm still seeing homes that just have not gotten around to taking down those blasted orange lights.  And yesterday I actually saw a home completely decorated for Christmas! 

But wait, we haven't sliced the turkey and gobbled down the cranberry sauce yet!

So to do my part, here are a few of my Thanksgiving cuties.
