DaDgUmMiT!

So I’m a northern gal livin’ in and lovin’ the South.
I mostly enjoy learning the proper use of certain Southern phases.

Dadgummit…It’s like a whole new language down here.

Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit but I think my favorite expression is…Bless Your Heart.

For my northern friends, here’s how to properly use this expression.

BLESS YOUR HEART

1: phrase used by Southern women to excuse themselves for speaking ill of someone else.

"She's as ugly as a mud-fence, bless her heart."

2: an expression of sympathy or pity.

"Well, bless your heart that must have been terrible!"

3: a polite way to respond to an ignoramus, particularly male, who showers upon you flattering but unwanted compliments.

drunk fella: "I think you're beautiful! Even if you were ugly, I'd STILL think you were beautiful!"   recipient: "...bless your heart."

Well thank you kindly but if the Good Lord’s willing and the creek don’t rise, I think I may have stumbled onto a good thing here…

Bless Your Heart!

hippity hoppity EASTER’s on its way!

SPRING just has to be my favorite time of the year.  It’s a time to rejoice and celebrate new beginnings.

I especially love seeing the flowers and trees beginning to bloom.
AND I’m a big bunny, rabbit, and hare lover…so having a season that lends itself to those furry little creatures delights me to no end.
Here are a few pictures of some wonderful little creations ready for delivery...

It’s Not Just the Cobbler’s Kids That Have No Shoes – It’S tHe CoBblEr tOo!

There is an old maxim about the cobbler’s children having no shoes.
The point? The cobbler is so busy at work producing and repairing the shoes of his customers that he cannot take any time to make sure that his own children have decent footwear.
Today it’s a phenomenon where people who are successful at doing something don't demonstrate that in their own personal lives.

Actually, I am so busy working at my full time job and creating Piccadilee Daydream treasures for customers in my free time that I very rarely make something for me or my family members.  Shame on me.
My story is that I have always wanted to draw, paint, sew and create since I was a very little girl.  Finally when my two girls were raised and out on their own I started to live my dream...and began to draw, paint, sew and create!  My experiments were gifts mostly for my grandkids.   So very often they would receive one of Gama's creations made especially for them.  Not so much these days.  So around Christmas time I was bound and determined to make them something special as gifts.  The truth is I ran out of time! But it actually worked out better.  During the holidays the grands stay with us for about a week.  So while they were with us they got to help me design exactly what they wanted.

And here they are…

WooF WooF

So I’m crazy about my dogs and I have lots of friends who are crazy about their dogs.  In fact we have several grand dogs in our family.
The original purpose of this blog is to show you the neat gift I made this past Christmas for a dog lover friend.

BUT... as I did a little bit of research I came up with many more interesting things to share.

I love this quote by Cesar Millan.

“Dogs don’t rationalize. They don’t hold anything against a person. They don’t see the outside of a human but the inside of a human.”
Cesar Millan (dog trainer)

And then I found these!

So I thought I’d end with a picture of our two
four-legged kids.
So much love is passed around when we are all together.

SnipS, SnailS and PuppY DoG TailS…

So I’m a big fan of Google.  That’s where I get all my cute and interesting facts for my blog but I must say...  the origin of this little nursery quote is really not all that cute.
"Snips, snails and puppy dog tails are the three main, and only, biological components of human males during their pre-adulthood."   WARNING… don’t go any further!  You really don’t want or need to know the rest.
The phrase itself is part of a well-known quote:
Snips, snails and puppy dog tails,
That's what little boys are made of
.
We’ll just stop right there.
Piccadilee Daydreams pretty much started many years ago making signs for the nursery and children’s bedrooms.  I made many for my growing grandchildren through the years.  The then, Daydream Studios, eventually grew up too and became Piccadilee Daydreams, designs by laura lee.
Today I make not only signs (that can match the room’s bedding) but I also make really cute pillows.
This custom order was especially special because this was a gift for a couple who just adopted their son.
Here you go...

Love Love Love custom orders.  Just give me a call.

for the NuRsErY!

How sweet is sweet?

Take one little munchkin (and I mean that in the kindest way), add a favorite nursery rhyme, mix in some grand grandparents and wonderful things happen that memories are made of.

In this case the photos will tell the story...

"The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout
Down came the rain and washed the spider out

Out came the sun and dried up all the rain

Wait for it….  Wait for it…

And the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again"

And this is sweetness in the
most precious way!
How I love special orders like this one.
enjoy...ll

PiLloW TaLk...

Wikipedia defines Pillow talk as a relaxed, intimate conversation that often occurs between two partners after the act of… well you get the picture.

But at Piccadillee Daydreams PILLOW TALK is simply an expression hand-painted on a PILLOW!  Maybe not as intimate but they are certainly “cute as the dickens”.

They come in all shapes and sizes and some are even personalized.

I’m working on one now for my granddaughter Cecilia who is going off to college next year.  She wants it to say… "It’s kind of fun to do the impossible” – a Walt Disney quote.   It's been designed and now in the process of getting painted. Check back to see a picture of Cecilia’s completed pillow.

In the mean time, here are a few others that I made this past year…
(Feel free to click on the gallery for more photos.  AND please leave a comment below. .. I especially appreciate feed back and ideas for a new project.)

This was made for my sister Michele Breslin.  I also had several special orders on this one.
I might conjure up a design for year round use.  Any ideas?

Pillow tucks to be tucked here and tucked there throughout your home.

GIVE thanks...

Perfect gift for that little princess.  Charlotte is a particularly cute little princess.

For my good friend TONY... the biggest Star Wars fan I know next to my son-in-law Jack and grandson Jaxon.

Pillow tucks make great gifts.
